GREEN ENERGY
Lets be honest increased use of electricity has negative environmental implications for everyone. The solution to this problem is simple: anyone in Australia can choose to purchase clean energy to power their home or office—and this is exactly what we’ve decided to do.
Our electricity bill comes directly to us from Origin Energy. Origin Energy provides an option to all of its customers to purchase 100% GreenPower Accredited Renewable Energy; when you purchase one of Origin Energy’s GreenPower products, they have the chosen percentage of your electricity usage matched into the electricity grid with electricity from GreenPower accredited renewable sources which include: Wind Generation, Mini Hydro Generation, Solar Generation or Biomass and Biogas. This costs us just under $50.00 per quarter more than what we were paying before—it’s a little more but to protect the environment we love and live in but it’s a no-brainer from our perspective.
As a result, 100% of the energy VIVIDWOLF buys is GreenPower Accredited certified and renewable. Honestly, we think it’s kinda cool that everything that we do is powered by the wind and stuff. We’re also excited about how easy it was to make that switch—we hope more companies will join us!
REDUCING OUR FOOTPRINT
While we’re a small organisation, we’re still very mindful of our footprint and we’ve taken a number of steps to reduce it.
As a graphic design agency we can easily be considered some of the worst offenders when it carbon footprints because of the masses of print product we produce, for that reason we’re committed to sustainable development, responsible environmental management, conserving resources, preventing pollution and complying with relevant legislations.
As part of this commitment, we:
use green power (see www.greenpower.gov.au) follow an internal environmental policy that maximises recycling and minimises paper, ink and water usage
use energy-efficient equipment and sustainable or biodegradable products whenever possible
plant a tree on behalf of all our clients (through www.carbonneutral.com.au)
VIVIDWOLF aims to work with environmentally aware suppliers whenever feasible. We also:
remain up to speed about printing processes that reduce environmental impact, such as waterless or digital printing
encourage clients to support paper merchants who conform to strict environmental and quality standards, using mills that are accredited with the Eco- Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) or Well Managed Forests (WMF)
encourage clients to eliminate waste by estimating print volumes as accurately as possible.
